Mansion on Forsyth Park, Savannah Weddings
08.04.10

It is no secret that I love the Mansion on Forsyth Park. I am there quite a few Saturdays a year and consider it a perk of my profession. The surroundings are gorgeous, the location perfect, the food delish but it is the staff that makes the Mansion superb. Sure the Mansion is upscale but there is a warmth that exudes from the staff. I appreciate being treated like part of their team and do everything I can to ensure I represent their brand well. It is an honor to be considered a preferred vendor.

The Mansion turned the tables on us this week, hosting a vendor appreciation luncheon. It was such a treat to be on the other side of the event as a guest. We sipped champagne in the Marble Garden and enjoyed a deliciously, rich lunch prepared by their Executive Chef and enjoyed hearing the goals and plans for the future from the general manager, Chris Coyle. I cannot thank the Exceptional Events Team: Jeannie Green, Andrea Powers and Lindsey Fenton enough for a wonderful afternoon.

A few of my favorite ladies: Caroline Carter, Kelli Boyd, me and Vicki Sepielli.

My fab table mates...we laughed and laughed! Lindsay Fenton and the Mansion General Manager, Chris Coyle, Kendal Wayner of Savannah Special Events, Kristin King of New Arts Ensembles, Meredith Stroud of Tricia Huddas & CO. and Courtney Buntin Victor of Glow Med Spa.

Bleubelle Bridal
07.21.10

One of the wonderful things about Savannah is the close knit wedding community. That community results in a team approach to wedding day success that is rarely duplicated. Bottom line, we care...a lot.

So I wasn't surprised at all to see Heather Burge, owner of Bleubelle Bridal, make an appearance at my wedding to check on one of her brides. The bride, Lara, was overwhelmed and delighted.

Lara had purchased her dress in her hometown but immediately had buyer's remorse. She came to Bleubelle looking for expertise and reassurance. She got both. Heather and her team whipped Lara's dress into the perfectly tailored gown, as if it was made just for her. Sure, Heather could have pushed Lara into a new gown but she understood where Lara's heart was. She wanted to ensure Lara had the radiant smile shared by all Bluebelle Brides!

I loved Heather's reaction to seeing Lara.

I probably don't need to tell you that Bluebelle Bridal is the place to shop for your gown in Savannah, do I?

Engage 10
06.14.10

Twice a year, I attend the Engage Luxury Wedding Business Summit produced by the genius women of Engaging Concepts Concepts, Rebecca Grinnals and Kathryn Arce. Each time I click the "send" button, I have no doubt that the money I am spending is an investment in my business and my personal growth.

Sure, I could attend the Professional Photographers of America or WPPI...and I have. I could go to countless photography workshops --which I don't because I could teach most of them. If I am spending $10,000 a year on education (which is a lot), I had better walk away with some solid applicable knowledge --and not just a kernel to two-- and a fresh perspective. I choose to invest in my business and myself as a business person, not just a photographer. I want to know my brides, my grooms and their parents...what they want, how they think and why they make choices. Most importantly, I want to learn how I can better serve them and delight them. Engage isn't for everyone, at least I don't think, because you don't attend to get business and it isn't a "how to" conference. The experience is going to make you think, ask questions, stretch and think differently and positively. For me, it is the pinnacle of a conference experience. And that, is why I attend Engage.

Now, all that being said, I can't lie and say that I am not "wowed" by the decor and atmosphere. I mean, afterall, these people are the best in the business. I am never, ever disappointed! I have dozens of images but I wanted to share a few, just a few to give you a taste.... courtesy of Celebrations of Grand Cayman

My all time favorite Engage Image!

The stylish Randy Fenoli having fun with Sylvia Weinstock and her signature look (which he loves, by the way).

Rebecca, Kathryn and their long time pals --all bred at Disney --man, they do something right!

The brilliant coach to creative businesses Sean Low and his lovely wife, Kate Bruce-Low. You have to check out Sean's blog.

One of my new besties! The talented Rebecca Davidson! Love her!

Ah, the most important for last...I brought Louis with me this time. He loved it but I think he is going to stick with medicine.

The Studio
04.16.10

You know, I am a perfectionist when it comes to my space. I like things visually clean, cool watery colors, clean lines, and comfortable. My bedroom is a quiet and serene retreat and there is no TV. That is right...the bedroom is for rest and...welll, you know, not TV:) Being a photographer, I crave that visual quiet because all day long I am bombarded with color and faces and emotion. I love that I have both ends of the visual spectrum in my life and I love the balance of it all.

When it came to the studio space, it is never quite good enough. One day, I am thinking I am going to get to the place where I say, "Yes, that is it...call Better Homes & Gardens --I am ready for the shoot." And that day never comes. Well, after much cajoling by clients, I broke down and took some studio images.

Let me know what ya think? (Heck, it's only 2.5 years in the making)

Happy Happy Friday!
