You know the cobbler's son who has no shoes...well, that is the story for my kids. The photographer's kids have no images. Man, I love those boys but the stress of getting them ready, picking out clothes, etc is overhwelming and one more thing on my "to do" list.
I don't often pick up my camera when I am not working but I will shoot silly relaxed images of the boys once in a while. It has been 2 years since we've had a formal shoot...because well, I have a whole other life outside of photography...named Grayson and Nolan.
So, as a Merry Christmas to myself, I got them matching clothes and promised the required McDonald's trip for good smiles...and a classic photo shoot was made. I just wanted images that captured 6 and 7 as I see them while they are still innocent and in love with their mom.
All went well because...at least I didn't have to worry if they misbehaved:) I know their mom.
For years, I have found myself counseling brides through wedding preparations, timelines, vendor relationships, etc., Why me, as a photographer...well, I am the one person, next to a wedding coordinator who is at the event all day. I have relationships with the couple, the family and the vendors that last long after the wedding. I have seen it all, helped solve the problems, and understand the nuances of creating a fabulous wedding.
There are questions, contracts, timelines, priorities, relationships, money and stress. I've often thought, if I could offer a crash course in all these things, the wedding experience could be fabulously stress-free (or darn close to it).
My answer...get the best wedding vendors in a room with brides to share the inside scoop on the contracts, the costs, the art...without the sales pitch. Of course, in a luxurious, inspirational setting to celebrate this amazing time in a bride's life.
It is Christmas time! Nolan got the play the angel he is --ha! And Sweet Gray got to play an old time caroler...he is wearing my Dad's hat. Love that!
