"Welcome, Mrs. Von Bruening, We are so glad you are here" before I hand over my credit card, don't you?
Today, my sweet husband, Louis and I are off to The Inn at Palmetto Bluff. It is a fabulous Auberge resort on the banks of the May River. I have photographed weddings there and loved it so much I brought Louis over for dinner. It is heaven on earth --seriously, I am not kidding. It is wonderful...the setting, the food, the service. Not my image but here is a visual...
OK - focus...Louis and I are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary this week. If you ask my friends it is a year long celebration with parties and trips, but hey, life is short ---right? I am absolutely in heaven thinking of lounging around for two whole days with Louis. It is so hard to focus on one another with careers, kids, a house, friends and life. Just trying to stay on top of life is exhausting. So off we are to recharge and celebrate. Here is a snap of us at our friends Carrie and Eli's wedding (yes, at Palmetto Bluff) last year. I look pretty fresh --cuz it is from the rehearsal dinner. The wedding I was a looking a little less than fresh running around in 90 degree humidity with two cameras around my neck. I just love Lou's salt and pepper look - like we are a vintage couple, eh?
Off we go and I'll tell you all about it when I get back. And yes, I am bringing my camera cuz the bathrooms are fabulous...oh, I mean the view is fabulous:)
Cheers (PS the little sign in the photo is chocolate art and you can eat it!)
Funny title - and no, Emily is not marrying Hank and Josh. Hank is my new newphew born today.

Congrats to my sister Deb, her hubby Chris and my niece Emma. I can't wait to meet him.
As for Emily, several weeks ago, I did the engagement session of Emily and Josh who are getting married at the Mansion on Forsyth in February. Emily called yesterday to tell me about her dress and I cannot wait for her wedding now. It is so amazing. It is an Elizabeth Fillmore. I wish I could post a picture but I don't want to ruin it for Josh since he wont' see it until the wedding, of course. At least you can peek at the happy couple.
Oh - and I can't forget that Savannah Wedding Professionals had their 2nd meeting last night. We've been in business a year and it is so exciting! We have been working hard to ensure Savannah is a true destination for weddings. I'll fill you another day...
And since my friends check the blog to find out where in the world I am...I'll be in Philly this weekend.
Here is Em and Josh. See you guys in February.
If you have been following my blog then you know my good friend and award-winning cake artist, Minette Rushing. Minette has taken her artistry to a new level and opened Minette Rushing: Sugar Seminars. The seminars will be led by Minette and a host of talented sugar artists from the region and across the country. This week's seminar on sugar roses was led by the exceptional Dianna Tornow. The next class is led by Bronwen Weber who you might remember from the sugar artist competitions on the Food Network. Too late - it is sold out but Minette plans to bring her back. Of course, I will be teaching, too. A quick class here and there on how to create a brand, take better images of your cakes, etc. I am so excited (no, not for free cake) because I love to teach and to speak . It is going to be so fun.
Here are a few shots of the first ever sugar seminars! The beginning bud....
The final result! (It takes hours - I was shocked at how long it takes)

The famous Diana giving Lauren a little laugh at her first attempt. (By the way, I photographed Lauren's wedding a few weeks ago - stunning bride if I do say so myself).
I just had to share these shots...that and I am loving my new blog so much that I just have to use it. I photographed Barb and her family today. We had a great time bumming around Fort Pulaski grabbing shots of her two boys, Michael and Matthew. However, I couldn't resist focusing on Barb and John. They've been married 18 years and you can see the incredible connection they have...they radiate love. For someone who sees new love every Saturday and who is coming up on her 10th wedding anniversary next week, it was refreshing to see long lasting love.
PS - Barb is my cousin. We grew up having sleepovers and stuff --it is hard to believe we both have two boys, careers and all that jazz. I swear just yesterday we were in sleeping bags in her living room laughing until 2am when her Dad, my Uncle Gil, would threaten us with "I am going to take Donna home." Ha! Barb and John live in Indy but John was in town doing some training at Beaufort Air Station. I am so glad she made the drive to visit me - oh, and John too, I guess:)
Amy Harvey is a floral and event designer in town who simply has the vision. So many couples come to me and ask me to who to use and I give them my three favorite florists and designers --all fabulous and all wonderful women.
So often couples come back to me and say they chose Amy because she just "got it" - she got their vision. Amy asked me to shoot some of her work this Friday at the Savannah Yacht Club. The theme was a tropical pink paradise...
It was so fun to just focus on the details and well, Amy had done it again!
